Wet Fete will be “different” this year – organizer

Another major Carnival event is on this weekend.

“Wet Fete” which now forms part of the Carnival calendar will take place on Sunday at its new location in Canefield, opposite Auto Trade. The new location is called, “Wete Fete City” and organizers warn that the activity is for adults only.

“Our Fete is for adults no children allowed, because my Fete has heavy alcohol and I am trying to set a difference between the grown people and adults,” Organizer of Wete Fete, Tilly Thomas, said at a weekly carnival press conference of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) office on Wednesday.

“This year we are going to do something different. We decided to put a little glam, a little flamboyant business into it,” Thomas said. “This year I am inviting some guys from the theme park of Antigua to come down to Dominica to join me to make this a better event.”

He said apart from having regular sprinklers and a pool, “I have a whole Water Park edition now …….I have slide, I have foam…bouncing castle for grown folks.”

He is calling on all adults to attend and support the event, “because we are trying to give Carnival a different flavor.”

This year, in addition to a Wet Zone, the Wete Fete location will include a dry zone and a VIP area.

Performances are expected to come from top artists on the island including Signal Band, Nayee, Asa Bantan, Sick Berry, WCK and Triple Kay International.

‘DJ Cut’, ‘DJ Mystic’ and ‘Dan Ja Dan’ will also provide entertainment.

Goodness. I thought it said Wet Feet. I didn’t really fancy that much, but this event looks very classy. A great addition to Dca’s cultural heritage. I especially like the innovative idea of a dry zone. Smart thinking. I always wanted to have a go in a bouncy castle. Can I do it in my underpants ?

The organisers said adult only but at wat age you consider the attendee an adult .Is it age 18? Also you should ask fro proof of ID for age to ensure no under 18 or 21 allowed.

Just don’t disturb the residents of Canefield with your depraved show Tilly. Go and make your money elsewhere.

Don’t want to spoil people’s fun but this is not as very good location, too small, too close to main road with limited parking. Hope they will install toilets and clean up afterwards. Get wet, have fun!

I like this, No children allowed… It’s about time! It sickens me to see underage children in grown folk parties. Hopefully this will be enforced more often.

I am in cold, snowy Toronto (all weekend to Monday – snowy, slushy, freezing rain and more to come during the week) and I will not miss it.
Tonight, I am comfortable indoors writing this. However, it did not prevent me and others from going out during the day as to Holy Mass where applicable.
