WHO Director-General stresses need for aggressive approach in fighting coronavirus pandemic

“You can’t win a football game only by defending; you have to attack as well”

The words of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros as he sought to stress the need for an aggressive approach to fighting the coronavirus at the daily WHO press briefing on Monday.

“Asking people to stay at home and other physical distancing measures are an important way of slowing down the spread of the virus and buying time but they are defensive measures that will not help us to win,” he said. “To win, we need to attack the virus with aggressive and targetted tactics, testing every suspected case, and racing and quarantining every close contact.”

Where was the aggressive approach when they were regurgitating China’s lies back in January? China claimed there were no human to human transmissions all while they were sterilizing streets and locking people in their homes and the WHO repeated their lies letting the rest of the world keep their guard down until it was too late.

These people must pay for the havoc they have allowed to consume the world. All now China’s economy is bumping back up while the rest of the world is suffering. They are even making comments about holding back medical supplies in the midst of a pandemic that they caused.

Well here in Dominica Skerrit is neither defending or attacking and sounds like he has surrendered to defeat weeks before the game. As we start to hear of confirmed cases, we even seem to stop hearing the official voices they told us to listen to for guidance. All we seeing is ambulances making trips around our health centers and people in panic. Last we heard from our official is “No school tomorrow”without saying for how long and without stressing the importance of staying home or take necessary steps to protect lives. I know it is very hard to tell people to stay home especially with the heat, sometimes rain, no water in some places, no sports on the TV and make it worse DNO is not moderating on a consistent basis, so people could read comments, post their own, give thumbs up and thumbs down to help people stay home doing something exciting. So it’s just hard no matter how we look at things

But Skerrit said he was in daily conversation with them so he never told that to Skerrit then? If he or any member of WHO or PAHO spoke to Skerrit I cannot believe they advised him to allow the cruise ship industry to stop coming to Dominica, allow Express Desile and Valferry to stop, and allow COVID-19 to close down schools for us. I just can’t understand that
