Who will be crowned Miss Dominica 2023?

 

The Miss Dominica Carnival Queen Pageant, one of the highlights of the Carnival Season is on tonight.

Five beautiful young women will vie for the prestigious title tonight at Carnival City beginning at 8 PM.

They are Moesha Thomas who is representing Petite Soufriere and sponsored by the Dominica National Lottery, Miss Adicia Burton representing the Kalinago Territory and sponsored by Petro Caribe. Meeya Francis of Canefield is sponsored by Convenience Plus/De Construction Solutions Ltd, Sandrin Elizee of Kingshill is Miss National Bank of Dominica and Tarnia Eugene is sponsored by the Republic Bank Limited. She is representing South City, Grandbay.

Events Assistant at Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC), Kerwin Jno Baptiste, said while addressing a press conference on Wednesday that the show will feature its regular segments beginning with the opening number.

“We will have a special celebration of Mas in the Streets itself,” he said.

He also mentioned that the contestants will compete in the National Spectacular Wear Creation segment.

He explained that, unlike the other years with the larger costumes, this year the contestants will depict something that represents Dominica.

“Whether it be an idea, whether it be a theme, whether it be something that is a folk story, something that represents our culture in Dominica,” Jno Baptiste explained. “We will have the talent segment, Swimwear Segment, Evening Wear, and Interview.”

He indicated that the show will feature performances from the Sixth Form Sisserou Singers, the Waitikubuli Dance Theatre Company, newly crowned Calypso Monarch of the Tent Tasha “Tasha P’ Peltier, Afrikulture Stilt Walkers, UMOJA CHS sign language, Starsha, Marie Pascale, Queens of Calypso which will feature Joy “Joy” Stoute, Shanice “Shanice” Langford and Royette “Royette” Laurent among others.

The last Miss Dominica Pageant was held in February 2020 with Savahnn James emerging winner.

    Answering you question DNO, I thought it might be obvious: GUCCI. That’s about all she can do. If you want to take it a step further, crown him the carnival prince and let’s find a competent and honest new leader that is prepared to actually serve our country and its people.
