NYCD Feature: “The old-right me”

Prisca Julien
Made changes. Went back: Found me – Who me?
The one you met a while back,
The no-nonsense, don’t know how to compromise, no trashy stuff girl… that me.
Or is it all you remember, the mistakes that are behind me?
Errors and things that shouldn’t have been,
Lapse in judgment,
Lust and misplaced passion,
Lost in fun, independence and careless compromises.
Can you? Maybe you remember me…
the no-nonsense, no mess, all things classy girl
She’s here! She’s been hiding but I found her.
She realized it’s OKAY to be her
Unafraid of being unloved for not bending her rules.
Not afraid to be judged by her mistakes
Or hurt by memories of unwise choices,
Scared that the scars of those are all you’ll see.
Worried that it’s changed who she really is,
She’s remembered the confidence that rested in her values.
The safety in her own wisdom.
The peace of trusting her counsel,
The joy of wholesomeness,
The happiness of being right
And just as the butterfly can’t hide its wings
So she refuses to hide the beauty of her heart.
Everything she buried for way too long.
Made changes: Going forward – Building me.
Who me?
Wait. I’ll be amazing. You’ll see

A great piece. Truly inspirational and will motivate alot of younger people to realize that it s okay to make mistakes. Mistake make us wise. We can always pick up ourselves, dust ourselves off and be phenomenal!!
