The spotlight will be placed on another traditional aspect of Carnival culture with the staging of ‘Pan in the City’ on Saturday, January 28.

This is according to Acting Chief Cultural Officer, Earlson Matthew, who was addressing a Carnival press conference on Wednesday.

The activity is expected to begin at 10 AM and go till 2 PM.

“On Saturday, we are going to focus on another traditional aspect of Carnival culture and that is steel pan with ‘Pan in the City’ staged in Roseau at various locations,” Matthew said.

He continued, “The intention of the event lies in the name ‘Pan in the City’, so we will have Pan in Harmony on the large sidewalk outside the Prevost Cinemall, Bob D outside Jays Bookstore, Athie and Friends outside the Larocque House on Great George Street.”

He added, “There will also be a small truck driving through the streets of Roseau playing pan music.”

He noted that bars such as One Pot will feature pan music and the radio stations have also committed to play pan music on that day.

Matthew also mentioned that there will be two DJs on Facebook Live featuring pan music.
