[PRESS RELEASE] – Animal Awareness Day 2023

The Dominica Library and Information Service – Roseau Public Library will host its annual Animal Awareness Day 2023 on Friday, March 3, 2023, at our Victoria Street location from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the general public, Pre and Primary school pupils of grades K, 1 and 2.

The library recognizes the harmonious relationship between people and animals hence the spotlight to promote this peaceful co-existence which makes this world a safer place for everyone.

The collaborating and contributory partners who will support our focus and make their voices heard in support of our animal friends include the Forestry, Wildlife and Parks Division, the Vasso Family, Pet Land, the Humane Society of Dominica, Ministry of Agriculture Central Livestock Unit and Saint Nicholas Animal Rescue Dominica.

This awareness is not restricted to only domesticated animals; however, consideration will also be given to wild animals, endangered species, and those threatened by environmental devastation or lack of protection.

Patrons will view a wide selection of animals particularly native to Dominica and it is expected that this initiative will solicit an appreciation and respect for all living things that make our ecosystem function.

We should certainly instill in our children at the earliest years to love and treat our animals well. Imagine what this world would be like without animals.
