Destination Marketing Manager of Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), Kimberly King has announced that trends have shown that the French West Indies, United States and Commonwealth Caribbean has dominated the carnival arrivals market share.
She made the announcement while addressing a carnival press conference held at the DDA office on Wednesday.
“For example the French West Indies market exceeded 2019 arrivals by 14 percent when comparing 2020 carnival numbers to the year 2019,” King said. “Similar to this the Commonwealth Caribbean market saw a 5 percent increase in carnival arrivals in 2020 compared to 2019.”
Furthermore, she said presently the majority of flights for the peak days, Thursday, February 16, to Wednesday, February 22, are sold out.
However persons who don’t want to miss out on this year’s Real ‘Mas Ah Lawi’ may consider the following:
“Express Des Isles Ferry Service, Guadeloupe to Dominica on Friday, February 17, just in time for Sunrise and Calypso Finals on Saturday and many other events that are packed in over the weekend,” King revealed.
Departure from Dominica to Guadeloupe will be on Wednesday, February 22.
She said visitors may also consider Air Antilles from Guadeloupe to Dominica on Saturday, February18, and return on Thursday, February 23.
King also listed Caribbean Airlines from Port-of-Spain in Trinidad to Dominica on Thursday, February16, and returning after Monday the 20.
“The continued service is still available.” she said.
Kind added, “We can say with certainty that Dominica Carnival experience is unlike any other in the Caribbean.”
Meantime, she said the DDA this year will provide pay-per-view experiences for the Miss Dominica Pageant via the Dominica Festivals website and with partnership sponsor FLOW.
FLOW customers in Dominica who are interested in viewing the National Queen Show are asked to contact the representative at 1-767-235-3569, to sign up to view the Miss Dominica Pageant on FLOW TV.

I am so sorry for this lady because this sounds like desperation. Carnival in Trinidad, Guadeloupe and Martinique take place at the same time as ours and I dare say they are better, more professionally organised than ours, so why should I come and celebrate in my home country. I have said already I will travel to Martinique instead via Paris, spend a pleasant time in Fort de France and then take a ferry to Roseau after carnival to spend with friend and family in Dominica, when things are quieter and the streets have been cleaned up hopefully. I love my country but not specially at carnival.
Well Ok church lady.
UK Dominican … RUBBISH. You are clearly sold out. You should have just ignored the post if you have nothing good to say. “why should I come and celebrate in my home country” ? REALLY???????????????????
