Moesha Thomas and Adicia Burton have received full sponsorship to compete in the Miss Dominica pageant this year.
This means that all five contestants have received full sponsorship to compete in the Miss Dominica Pageant. The other contestants are Meeya Francis of Canefield who is sponsored by Convenience Plus/De Construction Solutions Ltd, Sandrin Elizee of Kingshill is Miss National Bank of Dominica and Tarnia Eugene is sponsored by the Republic Bank Limited. She is representing South City, Grandbay.
The young ladies were officially sashed at a press conference held at the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) Office earlier today.
Thomas, who is representing Petite Soufriere, is sponsored by the Dominica National Lottery, while Miss Burton representing the Kalinago Territory is being sponsored by Petro Caribe.
“Up till about half an hour ago I represented my community, my country, and myself,” Thomas said. “Now I am delighted to add the Dominica National Lottery Commission to that list.”
According to her, as an organization with a history of showing support to sporting and cultural events on the island, “this collaboration is perfect”.
She expressed her gratitude to the commission for their sponsorship, and today fortified her belief in the statement, “everything is possible.”
Meanwhile, Miss Burton thanked Petro Caribe for coming on board as her official sponsor.
“I am extremely grateful to them for their partnership as my participation in this year’s pageant would be much more difficult without their support,” she stated.
The 20-year-old said she firmly believes in the holistic development of the individual, which she lives by.
“I have been, and still continue, to be deeply involved in sports, education, and culture in and out of my community,” she stated. “So I assure you that you have gained a competent partner who will do her utmost best to make myself, my community, your institution, and Dominica proud.”
As an individual who was the recipient of the award for most outstanding youth in indigenous, cultural, and traditional preservation at the National Youth Award in 2022, Burton expressed that she is not afraid to embrace her heritage and confidently advocate for justice and reparation of the indigenous people in Dominica.
The 2023 Miss Dominica Pageant is scheduled for Thursday, February 16, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt.
One thing I keep seeing is how overweight our people are – both men and women.
With the rise in incidents of non-communicable diseases, that is not a good trend.
That’s exactly my first thought when I saw the photos. I was just about to comment “Why are Dominican women so fat?”
Adicia looks great though
Isn’t it strange. They are all members of the Cabal. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
