The Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) will address the nation tomorrow in relation to the declaration of the election date by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
PM Skerrit announced that Dominicans will go to the polls on December 6th, 2019. Parliament was dissolved today 6th November 2019 and nomination day will be on the 19th of November 2019.
The Deputy Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Attorney Joshua Francis, told Dominicanewsonlinen (DNO) that UWP supporters and officials have called on the opposition to talk about relevant issues before the elections.
“In view of the call from the UWP supporters and officials, ‘no electoral reform, no elections’, Mr. Linton will address that and many other things tomorrow at Lagoon,” Francis said.
The meeting is expected to begin at 7:00pm.

Lin Clown. Their duplicity have taken new heights. They went on CNN to degrade the CBI, then turned around to say it was a good idea but Skerrit cannot operate it properly. Now they are back trying to destroy confidence in it with voodoo arithmetic and jumbee money accounting .

They did not support the idea at first , but then all Dominicans could see the value of an international airport so they change their tune that Skerrit could not deliver on this promise and try to paint him as a liar. But on the 5 on November the PM announced that China will build the airport.
Next day the 6 of November Linton wrote the Chinese Representative in Dominica to prevent them from building the airport. His excuse, this will be interfering in our internal affairs during election time.

Electoral reform would have been welcome before this election. I believe that those who fear electoral reform are clearly those who think that it won’t be to their advantage. But to say all prior elections has been tainted is a bit of a stretch. The past and now current laws places the incumbent government in control of calling of elections when it pleases via set parameters. The incumbent government also has the advantage of readily available campaign resources. This is not just a Dominica thing; it’s the same throughout the Caribbean. Incumbent governments will continue to utilize this advantage. As such, the opposition party will always be the one calling for electoral reform. Fair elections? The PM is forcing UWP to decide how it will focus its energy and resources.
