Deepest sympathy to the family. The Bible assures us that the time will come when “death will be no more,” so no one will be growing old and then dying (Revelation 21:4).

Elaine Pringle was an example of what our Dominican women can do, if given a half a chance to contribute. Like most educated women and men born in the 1920’s, Mrs Pringle was a trail blazer in her field of nursing and midwifery, and she help to set standards in health care for her community. After 1945, she went to England to learn her trade as a State Registered Nurse and a Registered Midwife. She was also a leader in business after 1960, in the field of insurance and air travel. She helped establish her son Ian in the 1980’s, to export agricultural products to the US Virgin Islands. This created a source income for many Dominican farmers after Hurricane David. Elaine Pringle started without much capital, but by dint of thrift and hard work she succeeded where many others would have failed. I wonder how many of us can look back on a life of service, industry and courage as she could. No doubt, the early demise of her son Ian was difficult for her to bear. We wish her family well.

Back in the day, we served together on the executive of Dominica Association of Mental Health. As a young man she was my role model for service to the nation, for helping others, espcially those less fortunate.

May we find comfort in knowing that the love she shared transcended the bounds of family and blessed the wider community so in need of selfless and exemplary leadership.

    RIP dear friend.

She had an award from the Nurses association named after her as DNO observed in their report on Oct 26th.

She did yeoman service to her profession.

Nurses ,like so many teachers are a group that don’t always get the recognition they deserve.
