Dear Editor,<\/p>\nDear Editor,<\/p>\n
This is something that has been affecting me for some time and the only avenue I can use to speak on behalf of not only myself but the hundreds of students that finish high school or college every year is to email you.<\/p>\n
How can we make it I ask?<\/p>\n
To me it is a lost cause, we are encouraged to attend school but at the end of it what we learned in the five of seven years of schooling we do not use.<\/p>\n
There are no jobs!!! The little vacancies that are advertised requires three (3) years minimum working experience, but how can we get working experience if we cant get a job? This feels like a trap as if your stuck in this hole and the only thing that can get you out is a ladder but there is no ladder in sight.<\/p>\n
We are encouraged to think innovative or creative and start our own business but in order to start a business the key factor is funding. Now here lies the problem, more than fifty percent of the graduates do not have the financial backing to start a business and the option of loan is out of it because we do not have security.<\/p>\n
These two problems are something that burden us every single day, and no one seems to care. A number of us are on a journey but without these two important steps we can not go anywhere.<\/p>\n
I had this conversation with my parl rep and the only thing he said to me is that “there is nothing he can do.” It seems that the only ones that even makes an effort to help are the drug dealers and so called criminals. Then persons wonder why the school children are falling into drugs but we can’t help it.<\/p>\n
Some of us are strong enough to stay away but some based on their situation will become part of it and the officials, the ones that should be helping us but decided to turn their backs, start to target and criminalize us before they take a second to figure out what pushed the child into drug dealing.<\/p>\n
So I pose this question to you and all the other officials again, “How can we make it?”<\/p>\n
Please consider this.<\/p>\n
