{"id":1254,"date":"2010-01-07T18:57:01","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T00:57:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/?p=1254"},"modified":"2010-01-08T09:30:46","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T15:30:46","slug":"antiguan-who-confessed-to-infecting-over-90-men-with-hiv-had-several-dominican-partners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/news\/regional\/antiguan-who-confessed-to-infecting-over-90-men-with-hiv-had-several-dominican-partners\/","title":{"rendered":"Antiguan who confessed to infecting over 90 men with HIV had several Dominican partners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/HIV.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1258\" title=\"HIV\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/HIV.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a>An Antiguan man who said he had over 90 sexual partners, including some from Dominica, died this week after being diagnosed with HIV.<\/p>\n<p>In an Antigua Sun interview before his death, the man boasted of being one of \u201cthe most sought after gays\u201d, and disclosed that many of his sexual partners came from St. Lucia, Dominica, Jamaica, St. Kitts and his homeland Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI must confess that I have had over 90 sexual partners and the truth is that I have had unprotected sex, as while I dislike having sex with condoms they hated it and in many cases [they] refused to use a condom,\u201d he told an Antigua Sun reporter.<\/p>\n<p>The Antiguan, who passed away at the Mount St. John Hospital this week, had requested that the interview be published after his death.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, he found out he was HIV positive after being released from jail in 2008.\u00a0 He said\u00a0 he had been shocked by the news that he had been living with the virus for several years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was wrongfully infected while I was in prison, so I do not see anything wrong with persons being infected by me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to stress that I do not stop anyone from wearing their condoms; I just express that I do not like it and on many occasions they just go ahead and fail to use it.\u00a0 I can\u2019t be responsible for their act of stupidity,\u201d he added in the Antigua Sun interview.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dominican connection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The man, who was in his twenties, said he had recently visited Dominica where he spent some weeks to \u201cfree up his body and mind.\u201d While in this country, he said he engaged in unprotected sex.<\/p>\n<p>He told the Antigua Sun reporter that he had hoped to visit St. Kitts later this year for carnival, noting that he had sexual partners there and was planning the trip to see the \u201ccute guys\u201d in that country.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, by age 12 he had already engaged in sex with four men.\u00a0 By age 16 he had multiple sexual partners and was fully immersed in the gay lifestyle. At age 17 he was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison after taking part in a robbery in Antigua.
