We have been together for four years. I am beginning to get frustrated because he doesn\u2019t pay any bills.<\/p>\n<p>We have internet which I am responsible for and I pay each month; Pay As You Go electricity which is clearly not an issue and we don&#8217;t pay rent, but he is responsible for paying the water bill and he never gets around to do it. I would not mind if he was giving me any money to go pay it, but every time I remind him he says he will do it but never does.<\/p>\n<p>There was this time where I spoke to him and he said he was going to pay the bills and change but that was back in April. Besides, he doesn\u2019t buy me things or gives me money. Not that I want anything, but at least I can say that\u2019s where his money went because he bought me this or bought me that. I&#8217;m not the kind of girl that asks for things, I could care less if a guy does not buy me anything but shows some responsibility. I&#8217;m at the end of my rope with him. I love him but I can\u2019t have a man in my life with this kind of attitude!! I\u2019m fed up of talking. I want to finish with him but I don\u2019t know how. He is keeping me back. Please help me!!!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dear anonymous,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You sound like a very independent woman, and many women should take a page from your book. Yet that is no reason for your partner to take advantage of you; he simply does not own up to the definition of what a man is supposed to represent.\u00a0 What sort of obligations does he have that is preventing him from paying a water bill that I\u2019m sure is not high at month end since if you work you\u2019re away from home for the better part of the day. Communication is important in any relationship, and it\u2019s not like you\u2019re merely venting, rather you have approached him about your concern and when he still refuses to change that is sad.<\/p>\n<p>You should threaten him with a breakup, and if that does not strike a nerve I don\u2019t know what will. If you truly love him I don\u2019t think you should impulsively get up and leave, but tell him that this is not working out and he is not living up to his responsibilities as your ideal man should.
