{"id":13683,"date":"2010-07-23T06:18:49","date_gmt":"2010-07-23T10:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/?p=13683"},"modified":"2010-07-23T06:18:49","modified_gmt":"2010-07-23T10:18:49","slug":"alive-word-fear-god-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/columns\/alive-word\/alive-word-fear-god-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"ALIVE WORD: Fear God &#8211; Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13684\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13684\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><em><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/TheRichardsons2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13684\" title=\"TheRichardsons\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/TheRichardsons2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/TheRichardsons2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/TheRichardsons2-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/em><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13684\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Richardsons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c\u2026yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God,which fear before him.\u201d Ecclesiastes 8:12 <\/em><\/p>\n<p>If ever a time we truly need to fear God, it is now.\u00a0 If you truly realize that it is God who made you and who is keeping you alive, you would then see the importance of fearing God and giving him thanks and praise by living your life for Him.\u00a0 However, if for some reason the devil has deceived you into thinking or living as if you made yourself, you will neither have regard for God nor man.<\/p>\n<p>In John 3:16 we read \u201cFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.\u00a0 Jesus Christ did not have to die for the sins of the world but he did.\u00a0 He did it because of his love for us, so that we could be reconciled to God.\u00a0 Do you fear God?<\/p>\n<p>People who do not fear God have a tendency to swear and take the Lord\u2019s name in vain.\u00a0 \u201cThou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.\u201d Exodus 20:7<\/p>\n<p>It is only the mercies of God that some people are still alive, still sane, still have a family, still have a job, still have a home, still have peace, still have good health and strength.\u00a0 Yet inspite of all this many refuse to fear God.\u00a0 For some, education, social status has plunged them into a mindset that God is someone to be ignored, someone for people who are ignorant or illiterate.\u00a0 Others think that only fools believe in God then of course there are those who say that there is no God.\u00a0 \u201cThe fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.\u201d Psalm 14:1a<\/p>\n<p>Wisdom is acquired by fearing God.\u00a0 \u201cThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.\u201d Psalm 111:10\u00a0 Not only that but those who fear God hate evil, pride and arrogance.\u00a0 \u201cThe fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.\u201d Proverbs 8:13<\/p>\n<p>People who fear God hate evil and the evil way.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because there is a deep conviction within that there is accountability and responsibility for all actions.\u00a0 \u201cSo then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.\u201d\u00a0 Romans 14:12<\/p>\n<p>It is a very dangerous and deadly thing to live without the fear of the Lord.\u00a0 \u201cThe fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.\u201d Proverbs 10:27\u00a0 In Psalm 36:1-3 it goes on to say \u201cThe transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of us should be mindful of what we say and do and the way that we treat others.\u00a0 Those who do not fear God look around but those who fear God look up.\u00a0 God is all knowing, all powerful, all seeing and He is everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Some have acquired wealth, riches, positions and possessions because of unscrupulous and evil means.\u00a0 They took no thought of who they had to trample or what they had to do to get what they wanted or who they wanted;
