If there ever was a time that we as a territory, as a people, as a church, need to call on the name of the Lord, it is now. We need God in our nation; we need God in our communities; we need God in our churches; we need God in our government; we need God in our families; we need God in our lives.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re living in perilous times, and time does not allow for us to make the mistake of forgetting God. No matter who you are or where you live, if there was ever a time that your nation, your people, and you need God, it\u2019s now.<\/p>\n

Many call on God a lot during times of trouble but fail to serve and acknowledge God when the storm is past and all seem to be well.\u00a0 There is so much going on in our land.\u00a0 Some things are visible and some hidden.\u00a0 But nothing is hidden from God.\u00a0 For some often forget that when men do not see God sees all things and He keeps good records.\u00a0 Some people have become fearful while others are hopeless.\u00a0 Our only hope and help is in the name of the Lord.<\/p>\n

People, we cannot afford to forget God.\u00a0 The God who has brought the Virgin Islands through many rough and serious times.\u00a0 If ever a time we need to really repent and get on our faces before the Lord it is now.<\/p>\n

The alarm is being sounded to the four corners of the earth. It\u2019s a call to repentance and earnest prayer. A call for the nations of the world and the people of the world to turn their hearts to God. A call for the church of the living God\u2014the body of Christ\u2014to stop getting ready and to be ready. \u201cTherefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh\u201d (Matthew 24:44).<\/p>\n

We cannot afford to forget God. Only the mercies of God have brought so many of the nations of the world through dark and trying times. Yet, many nations have forsaken God. Many nations have attributed their success and prosperity to man or to other gods. They\u2019re going their way and doing their own thing, only crying to God when they\u2019re in trouble.<\/p>\n

Yet God is still merciful, and He causes the rain to fall on the just and unjust alike. It is because of the prayers of the righteous in some nations that the judgment of God is not manifested in more dramatic ways. Yet, when disaster strikes a nation, the hearts of many are turned to God and the hearts of others are turned away from God.<\/p>\n

Many ask how God could allow it. They fail to see the sins of the nation and the way people have forgotten God and turned aside to follow other gods. They don\u2019t see that as Christians we often fail to humble ourselves and pray, to be spiritually alert, and to war in the Spirit to abort the plans of the enemy.<\/p>\n

To ask God’s mercy as Abraham did on behalf of his people. God is so merciful that He always sends warning before judgment.<\/p>\n

He tells us to warn the wicked. Ezekiel 33:7-9 says, ” So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”<\/p>\n

\u201cBlessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance\u201d (Psalm 33:12). When a nation decides to put God out of the picture or put other gods in charge, a curse comes upon that nation.<\/p>\n

The opposite of being blessed is being cursed. For if God is not in charge, then the devil is. If we take God out, then we\u2019re opening up the door for the devil to come in and reap havoc in the nation, in the people, in the families, in the communities. If God is not God of a nation, the people cannot live in the peace that God has ordained for them. Voodoo is now recognized as a religion in some nations, and homosexual priests are being ordained while some pastors and priests are now marrying homosexuals.<\/p>\n

In other nations there are demonic assignments out to take God out of just about everything. \u201cWoe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!\u201d (Isaiah 5:20). People, we cannot afford to forget God, for if we do, the wrath of God will come upon us.<\/p>\n

Christians, we must take a stand for Jesus Christ. You may be saying to yourself that there is so much evil in your nation you do not know where to begin. Begin by praying.<\/p>\n

Pray for those who are in authority. \u201cI exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour\u201d (1 Timothy 2:1-3). God says that we should pray for those in authority.<\/p>\n

Somehow as Christians we sometimes think we should pray only if we like those who are in authority or if we think that who is in authority should be there. Scripture doesn\u2019t say that. It says to pray for them. Whether your political party is in or not, God says to pray. Whether you like your church leaders or not, God says to pray. Whether you like your boss or not, God says to pray.<\/p>\n

We often forget the words of Isaiah 9:6: \u201cFor unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.\u201d The government is on the shoulder of the Lord, and Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. The more negative words we speak against those in authority, the more we\u2019re contributing to their making wrong decisions and to our own lack of peace.
