\"\"<\/a>General Manager of Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC) Colin Cover has revealed that electricity sales in Dominica are on the increase, while sales in other Caribbean islands have dropped.<\/p>\n

Cover, who has been in the position for ten months now, was speaking on the first edition of the radio program, Power Talk.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had increase in sales in 2009. Generally electricity sales are an indication of how well a country\u2019s economy is doing. It has continued to grow and I am sure it\u2019s related to the fact that fuel prices did not get as high as they got in 2008 but by and large the company was able to hold its own in 2009,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Cover also attributed the growth to further development in the business sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw a number of things. The Ross University put on another wing and we also saw quite a number of new establishments opening up including the new Kentucky Fried Chicken and Rituals in Portsmouth. Also, in Roseau a number of new businesses were opened. We also continue to see growth in the residential sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
