In a confrontation with police at his home on August 16, Gregoire denied the allegation even after an empty container which fit the description of the one that was missing was spotted in his home. He later admitted after he was told he was being arrested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOk officer is me. I will tell you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gregoire explained to police how he had taken the crates through a hole in the fence, and removed a stone in front of storeroom door to open it to snatch the said diesel.<\/p>\n<p>He also told police that he sold the diesel.<\/p>\n<p>In mitigation, the defendant told the court that he had only taken a small amount of diesel and had cooperated with the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t give them a hard time. I told them&#8230;\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to learn to see people things and not touch it,\u201d Magistrate George told him before passing sentence.<\/p>\n<p>There was no separate penalty for the handling stolen goods charge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Grand Bay man will have the next six months to reflect on his actions within the walls of the Stockfarm prison after stealing diesel and empty beer bottles from the credit union in that community.
