Darroux says it’s a priority of his ministry to revise the National ICT Policy Framework<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Minister of Information, Science, Telecommunications any Technology, Kelver Darroux, has stated that his Ministry is in the process of revising the National ICT Policy framework.<\/p>\n

He said so on Friday at the handing over ceremony of an ICT package from the Ministry of Health and Environment.<\/p>\n

Darroux said that the Ministry has made it \u201ca priority\u201d to review the policy\u2019s outline and emphasized the need to incorporate more advanced technology in the ministries, in order to increase efficiency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Information, Science, Telecommunications, and Technology is in the process of reviewing government\u2019s National ICT Policy framework; and this is very important because we understand that of the various government ministries\u2014 agriculture, health, tourism\u2014ICT has a very integral role to play,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, therefore, we must incorporate greater technologies within the various ministries for greater efficiency. And that is a priority now for the Ministry of Information, Science, Telecommunications, and Technology to ensure that we review the National Policy on ICT, and at the end of the day, all the respective government ministries can benefit tremendously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meantime, Darroux boasted of Dominica as a \u201cleader in the telecommunications industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the growth and protection strategy, telecommunication infrastructure in Dominica is broadly competitive with that of the other islands of the Caribbean,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He referenced the fact that Dominica is the first country in the world to operate a fully digital national telephone system. He said trends in other countries have also contributed to the island\u2019s telecommunications advancement.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026it was the first of the islands to grant a license to a telecommunications provider other than the traditional supplier\u2014even in the advance of agreed regional decision-making on the matter.
