The award was accepted by Rotaract Club vice president Miriam St.Luce at the Awarak House of Culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award cements Rotaract\u2019s position as the premiere service club in Dominica,\u201d Carter said.<\/p>\n<p>Two other clubs also received awards for community involvement.<\/p>\n<p>According to the citation the club received the award \u201cbecause of all their hard work and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Annually, the Rotaract Club of Roseau puts on the Carnival Princess Show competition where young girls are given the opportunity to display their talents and knowledge, along with winning cash prizes.\u00a0 In addition, the Rotaract Club of Roseau has an annual Spelling Bee competition for primary school children.\u00a0 The club teams up with Haliborange to make the event a true success!<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Rotaract Club of Roseau has donated numerous food hampers to needy families\/individuals throughout Dominica.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, the Rotaract Club of Roseau made a donation of food and a new oven to Operation Youth Quack.\u00a0 During Community Day of Service, the members went and visited the Home for the Age and assisted with assisting with cleaning, feeding, grooming and socializing with residents.<\/p>\n<p>During the Christmas season, the Rotaract Club of Roseau celebrated the holiday season with underprivileged children and made donations of gifts and snacks for the children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Rotaract Club of Roseau has received the prestigious Mayor of Roseau award for community involvement. \u201cWe are very elated,\u201d said Rotaract Club of Roseau president Stiengel Carter.
