The Department for International Development of UKAid, DFID, provided funding for the Emergency Employment Program (EEP)supported by the UNDP and executed through the National Employment Program of Dominica (NEP). With its tremendous financial support, the UNDP was able to purchase personal protective equipment and hand and power tools for recovery work post Hurricane Maria in Dominica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On July 11th, representatives of DFID together with the UNDP visited Point Michel, one of 18 communities under the EEP to monitor and evaluate progress since the program closed. Accompanied by the NEP CEA for that community, together we visited key work areas and got to dialogue with NEP interns on site. Following the visit, DFID got a chance to observe one of the NEP’s focus group meetings held\u00a0at the UNDP’s Dominica Project Office. This was one of a series of meetings\u00a0supported by the UNDP on lessons learned from the EEP.<\/span><\/p>\n
