In a question and answer segment of a Dominica Diaspora Entrepreneurship Forum at the Public Service Union this morning,\u00a0 Denmark-based Dominican Patrick Joseph questioned the prime minister on what he said were constant allegations about Skerrit and the \u201cvillas.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Dominican raised concern about what he said was the prime minister\u2019s \u201csilence\u201d on the topic.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease take Mr Linton to court!\u201d Joseph told the prime minister.<\/p>\n
\u201c…. I am not gonna waste my time on these people who are there who are hell bent on taking this government out, bringing this government down, denigrating the government. I\u2019m not gonna waste my time. This matter was debated squarely in the elections of 2009. I stated my case to the Dominican people. They listened to every view point and they made a decision in 2009,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The diaspora member indicated that the allegations had given the office of the prime minister and country a bad name. He called on the prime minister to respond to the allegations and further implied that Skerrit\u2019s \u201csilence\u201d was a sign of guilt.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me say to you my Dominican Danish friend… did you also hear that I own a boat and I own apartments in Dominica and New York? Didn\u2019t you also hear that I own Krazy Kokonuts? Did you also hear I own a home in St Joseph? Did you also hear I own a former building which is Vena\u2019s Guest House? You heard that too?\u201d the prime minister asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould I sue everybody who says that about me?\u00a0 Should I sue everybody who said something about the prime minister, and how often do I go to court to deal with those issues?\u201d he asked the overseas-based national.<\/p>\n
He reiterated: \u201cYou can take what anybody says about the prime minister and decide what you want to, how you want to treat it but I am telling you that Roosevelt Skerrit is not going to waste his time on these people who are hell bent on bringing this government down.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have things to do. I have dealt with this matter squared in the public before. I have stated my place in this matter and I am not going to be responding to every single thing that they said about Roosevelt Skerrit or the prime minister,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Denmark resident created a small uproar during the proceedings when he interjected several comments and questions loudly while the prime minister responded to his concerns.<\/p>\n
This prompted Skerrit to state: “You see, that is typical of those who do not support the government, that they ask questions but they do not want to hear response to the questions and so forth – unless the response is what they have already planned in their minds.\u201d<\/p>\n
After several interruptions from the Denmark resident, the prime minister stated: \u201cSo if you want to believe whatever you want to believe you take it and you go back to Denmark with it and do whatever you want with it. But as far as I am concerned I have dealt with this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can shout, they can scream on this matter I have stated my claim and you won\u2019t get me to respond to these guys… on every issue,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
