{"id":225610,"date":"2019-05-21T11:50:06","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T15:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=225610"},"modified":"2019-05-21T11:52:56","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T15:52:56","slug":"eccb-polymer-bank-notes-coming-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/news\/eccb-polymer-bank-notes-coming-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"ECCB polymer bank notes coming soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-225723\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ECCB-polymer-notes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"227\" \/>Acting resident representative for the agency office of the\u00a0<a>Eastern Caribbean\u00a0<\/a>Central Bank<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">(ECCB) in Dominica, Ambrose\u00a0<a>Sylvester\u00a0<\/a>said new<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Eastern Caribbean (EC) polymer bank notes will begin circulation in Dominica and other member states of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">(ECCU) in June,2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cThis new polymer bank notes will be in circulation as early as June this year commencing with the $50 denomination followed by the $100, the $20 and the $10 in August to September and the $5 in 2020,\u201d Sylvester told DNO in an interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Sylvester said the polymer bank notes will eventually replace cotton-based, paper bank notes which are currently in circulation and the two sets of bank notes <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">will co-circulate until the current ones are phased out and withdrawn from circulation over a period of approximately 5 years beginning in 2020 after the $5 notes would have been issued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">He explained, \u201cAnd hear when I say these notes will co-circulate, it means that they will be in circulation side by side, so, if one goes to any business entity or even through the ATM, you may very well get a combination of both polymer notes and these paper bank notes together.
