{"id":23252,"date":"2010-12-13T10:54:45","date_gmt":"2010-12-13T14:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/dno\/?p=23252"},"modified":"2010-12-25T14:35:15","modified_gmt":"2010-12-25T18:35:15","slug":"alive-word-be-who-god-has-called-you-to-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/columns\/alive-word\/alive-word-be-who-god-has-called-you-to-be\/","title":{"rendered":"ALIVE WORD: Be who God has called you to be"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21148\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21148\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21148\" title=\"richardsons\" src=\"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/dno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/richardsons.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/richardsons.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/richardsons-150x108.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/em><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ministers Wilbert and Jacqueline Richardson <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBut now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that  formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called  thee by thy name;\u00a0<strong>thou art mine<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Isaiah 43:1. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many Christians today have lost their identity, not knowing who they  are or whose they are.\u00a0\u00a0God has created each of us as individuals.\u00a0\u00a0No  two people are alike, not even identical twins.\u00a0\u00a0God has created each of  us for a purpose and it is not His will that we become carbon copies of  each other.\u00a0\u00a0As we look in the Bible we see that God called Moses to  deliver the children of\u00a0Israel.\u00a0\u00a0He called Esther to deliver the Jewish  people.\u00a0\u00a0He called Jeremiah to be a prophet to the nations.<\/p>\n<p>As children of God we are all called to follow Jesus Christ and as we  do that He will lead us to our divine destines and the purpose for  which we have be created.<\/p>\n<p>However many have lost their way because they have chosen to be who  people want them to be and do what others want them to do instead of  what God has called them to do.\u00a0Many are striving to be like others  instead of striving to be like Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus said in\u00a0St.  John\u00a015:5 \u201cI am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me,  and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can  do nothing.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Are you bearing fruit or are you barren?<\/p>\n<p>Are you seeking God for yourself and asking Him what His will is for  your life or are you depending on others to tell you what God wants you  to do?\u00a0\u00a0It is important as saints that we know the voice of God for  ourselves and that can only happen when we spend quality time in the  presence of the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cMy\u00a0<strong>sheep<\/strong> listen to my\u00a0<strong>voice<\/strong>; I\u00a0<strong>know<\/strong> them, and they follow me.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0St. John\u00a010:27\u00a0\u00a0Jesus has called us to  follow Him.\u00a0\u00a0If we chose to follow others and not follow Jesus Christ we  can lose our way.<\/p>\n<p>Remember Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life.\u00a0\u00a0The path  that God has called another brother or sister to walk may not be the  path that God has called us to walk.\u00a0\u00a0Our experiences, our gifting, our  anointing are all different.\u00a0\u00a0God gives us what we need for the purpose  that He has created us.<\/p>\n<p>Many fail to reach their divine destinies because they compare  themselves with others who they think are more spiritual.\u00a0\u00a0They waste  all their lives wishing they could be and trying to be someone else \u2013  trying to sound like that person or trying to act like that person  hoping that by doing so they would be that person.\u00a0\u00a0For others, their  lives are controlled by a person or persons so they become who they want  them to be and not who God has called them to be.<\/p>\n<p>Fear of man prevents them from being led by the Holy Spirit and being  and doing what God commands them.\u00a0In the process all happen is they  lose their true identity, they live in bondage and they have no real joy  or peace.\u00a0Disobedience has a price.<\/p>\n<p>Worst than not knowing who you are; is not knowing whose you are.\u00a0\u00a0In  1 Corinthians 1:11-13 we read of the contentions in the church  at\u00a0Corinth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which  are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. \u2018Now  this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos;  and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified  for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Our identity should  be rooted and grounded in Christ and not in people.\u00a0\u00a0Though we are  members of particular church and have a shepherd over us, they should  never in any way take the place of Jesus Christ in our lives, and they  are not to be worshipped as if they are God. Your shepherd should not in  any way act as if they own you for that is not of God.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cNeither as  being lords over\u00a0<strong>God\u2019s heritage<\/strong>, but being examples to the flock.\u201d\u00a0\u00a01 Peter 5:3<\/p>\n<p>We encourage you today to seek the face of God and ask Him to reveal  to you, who He wants you to be and what He wants you to do.\u00a0\u00a0When He  does, be obedient to Him.\u00a0\u00a0Then and only then can you truly fulfill your  divine destiny.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cBut now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name;\u00a0thou art mine.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Isaiah 43:1.
