\u201cJounen an Pawadi” (A Day in Paradise), a new activity on this year’s Independencecalendar got underway in Giraudel this morning.<\/p>\n
The event, which is being held jointly by the Morne Anglais Community Tourism Development Committee (MACTDC) and the Giraudel\/Eggleston Flower Growers Group, will take place today (Friday 18th) and tomorrow (Saturday 19th October) from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Flower Show site in Giraudel.<\/p>\n
The event is part of this year\u2019s National Independence Program and\u00a0is intended to provide an avenue to showcase the culture-skills and talents of the villagers in a well landscaped garden with a wide variety of plants and other natural features.<\/p>\n
Coordinator of the MACTDC, Shirley Alexander said her group looks forward to further development of the site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe garden is simply beautiful; it’s breath-taking. We bought it some years ago with the intention of hosting our flower shows and other events there and now with the formation of the MACTDC, we are working with them to continue developing the site.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alexander added that throughout the day, patrons will also be treated to local entertainment and tour guides will be available for those interested in taking an easy hike to the scenic Morne Anglais.<\/p>\n
Local items, including flower plants, craft items, food and drinks, will also be on sale.<\/p>\n
A small fee of $5 for children and $10 for adults will be charged and patrons are asked to wear creole clothes.<\/p>\n
The Committee intends to have the site open to visitors during the Independence season- October 18th to November 4th and thereafter, it will be open at least once per week, to accommodate school students and other visitors.<\/p>\n
The Giraudel \/Eggleston Community is renowned for its beautiful flowers, wholesome vegetables, rich fertile soil, and hospitable people and has organized and hosted over 15 Flower Shows and Market Fairs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cJounen an Pawadi” (A Day in Paradise), a new activity on this year’s Independencecalendar got underway in Giraudel this morning.
