Reggae artistes on island will come together this weekend to host for the first time a free event dubbed \u2018Local Reggae Music Expressionz.<\/p>\n
The event organized by\u00a0Nicole \u2018AbiYah Yisrael\u2019 Alfred,\u00a0and Nigel Christian will take place at the Fond Cole Community Centre on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Twenty-one local artistes are expected to participate in the event.<\/p>\n
Director of Local Reggae Music Expressionz, Nigel Christian told Dominica News Online (DNO) during an interview on Friday that the idea came about to host this particular event because of his passion for reggae music and he also saw the need to promote the art form.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat event came about because I want to promote local music more and also to promote myself because I am a singer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Christian, Bouyon music is being well promoted in Dominica and so reggae music should be promoted the same way.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat they are doing with the Bouyon music to help in promoting it, I would like to see the same thing done with reggae music in Dominica,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Christian said he wants to hear the Reggae music playing everywhere.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to hear reggae music playing in vehicles, we want to hear it playing on Hi-fi, we want to hear it playing loud. We want to be walking in the streets and hear the reggae music of the local artistes playing,” he said.<\/p>\n
From 4:00pm will be a local expo where persons will display local crafts.<\/p>\n
Herbalist, Reynold Dejean is expected to give a talk on health from about 6:00pm.<\/p>\n
