{"id":239250,"date":"2019-11-09T13:47:44","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T17:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=239250"},"modified":"2019-11-09T13:47:44","modified_gmt":"2019-11-09T17:47:44","slug":"gnb-financial-group-limited-to-be-new-majority-owner-of-fcib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/gnb-financial-group-limited-to-be-new-majority-owner-of-fcib\/","title":{"rendered":"GNB financial Group Limited to be new majority owner of FCIB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-239251 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cibc_first_caribbean_international_bank_san_pedro__18057-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) FirstCaribbean International\u00a0announced today Friday that they have reached an agreement on the purchase of a portion of the bank\u2019s shares in its Caribbean entity by GNB Financial Group Limited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a press statement released today Friday, the bank said\u00a0the\u00a0group out of Colombia will purchase 66.73% of the shares of FirstCaribbean, subject to the approval of local regulators, while CIBC will retain a 24.9% interest in the Caribbean bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The acquisition includes locations in 16 Caribbean countries including the Barbados headquarters, Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Cayman, Curacao and Dominica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chief Executive Officer of FirstCaribbean Colette Delaney said the Bank is a strong, well-performing business that continues to grow across the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFirstCaribbean remains laser focused on delivering on its strategy \u2013 providing its clients with first class service through a modern everyday banking experience and providing its employees with the best possible work experience\u201d Delaney said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaime Gilinski, Chairman of GNB Financial Group Limited said the Bank will remain the strong entity it is today, committed to servicing its clients in the region. \u201cI have been impressed by the strength and stability of FirstCaribbean and am excited about its prospects for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gilinski Group has banking operations in Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Panama, and Cayman Islands with approximately US $15 billion in combined assets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) FirstCaribbean International\u00a0announced today Friday that they have reached an agreement on the purchase of a portion of the bank\u2019s shares in its Caribbean entity by GNB Financial Group Limited.
