Marcellin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Rebuttal to the outgoing representative for Vieille Case<\/h1>\n<p>I refer to a story published on DNO captioned \u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/no-competition-in-my-constituency-says-skerrit\/\">ELECTION: No competition in my constituency&#8230;<\/a>\u201d dated Wednesday, November 20, 2019, where the out-going parliamentary representative for the Vieille Case Constituency boastfully asserts that this is the easiest election for Dominicans to decide which party comes into power.<\/p>\n<p>More specifically, he claimed that I, Clement Marcellin, the United Workers Party candidate, am of no threat to him retaining the Vieille Case Constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did he appear out of touch with the burning issues affecting the people of the constituency but his assertions were the latest manifestation of his egoistic, hubris mentality that the people of the constituency, his subjects it appears, will forever be indebted to him.<\/p>\n<p>Reflectively, the out-going parliamentary representative who exposed his thinking, his very regard for the constituents as mere automated machines who are duty-bound to cast a vote for him regardless of the unfortunate circumstances they might be in.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when the country is on the verge of plummeting into a constitutional crisis triggered by lacklustre economic performance, lack of systemic electoral reforms and spiralling poverty, is your confidence based on your vote for cash legacy and the peddling of state resources to purchase the loyalty of the people of the constituency?<\/p>\n<p>Or have you convinced yourself that the people are incapable of thinking for themselves?<\/p>\n<p>Whatever it is, I resent this thinking.<\/p>\n<p>I am of the view that the people of the Vieille Case Constituency are some of the brightest minds that Dominica has produced.<\/p>\n<p>Our people have always been high achievers, disciplined to work hard and earn for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Running for public office is not about competition, Sir.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s about laying out plans and programmes which will advance the economic well-being of the people.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s about empowering the youth and creating the conditions for small business to take off and grow.<\/p>\n<p>I have prepared and presented a well thought out<a href=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/clement-marcellin-uwp-candidate-for-vielle-case-manifesto-release\/\"> manifesto\u00a0for the constituency<\/a>-one that will create the path to true economic independence of our people.<\/p>\n<p>For almost twenty years, the outgoing parliamentary representative has not presented a single coherent plan to the constituency he serves.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, he has arrogantly and disrespectfully dropped a project here and there without any regard for public consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Sir, your proclamations have eroded our pride and confidence in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>The transfer of your registration from the Vieille Case to the Roseau constituency is a clear signal that you have lost respect for the people.<\/p>\n<p>The people will decide your fate this election, not me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Rebuttal to the outgoing representative for Vieille Case I refer to a story published on DNO captioned \u201dELECTION: No competition in my constituency&#8230;\u201d dated Wednesday, November 20, 2019, where the out-going parliamentary representative for the Vieille Case Constituency boastfully asserts&#8230;","protected":false},"author":27,"featured_media":236436,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_cbd_carousel_blocks":"[]","footnotes":""},"categories":[77,235,9,12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-240028","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-homepage","category-homepage-carousel","category-news","category-politics"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>&#039;Clemo&#039;
