{"id":242905,"date":"2020-01-16T13:44:11","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T17:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=242905"},"modified":"2020-01-16T13:44:11","modified_gmt":"2020-01-16T17:44:11","slug":"we-do-not-have-an-issue-where-gender-equality-is-concerned-bpw-on-dominica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/we-do-not-have-an-issue-where-gender-equality-is-concerned-bpw-on-dominica\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;&#8230;we do not have an issue where gender equality is concerned&#8221; &#8211; BPW on Dominica"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_242909\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-242909\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-242909 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-01-16-at-12.36.07-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-242909\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President of the Business and Professional Women Dominica Rhoda St. John<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\":148\">\n<div class=\"btm\">Dominica does not have an issue with equality as it concerns gender.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":153\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":14l\" class=\"a3s aXjCH \">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>This was according to President of the Business and Professional Women Rhoda St. John\u00a0who was addressing a Meet &amp; Greet ceremony held at the Prevo Cinemall on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are at the forefront of gender equality in Dominica and we are happy about that,\u201d St John said.<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cWe have women who are at the highest level in our society, we have women who hold the position of CEO\u2019s or Directors, we have women who are business owners, we have women who are in Parliament, who are in government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She indicated that Dominica is unique when it comes to gender equality, \u201cand we should be proud that we are actually leading the way in gender equality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should be proud to say that we do not have an issue where gender equality is concerned,\u201d St John stated.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say that women are capable of performing the same jobs men are capable of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know many women who drive tractors, operate backhoe, who climbs the electrical poles and do the same job as a man,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, St John said there needs to be a platform where women can use the voice that they have been given and to be able to use their leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a lot of women in different sectors in society and it is time that we gave them a platform where they can develop their skills, develop their abilities, show off the qualities that they have,\u201d she indicated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dominica does not have an issue with equality as it concerns gender.
