{"id":262939,"date":"2021-02-05T13:17:43","date_gmt":"2021-02-05T17:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=262939"},"modified":"2021-02-08T07:42:32","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T11:42:32","slug":"cibc-first-caribbean-honours-high-performing-dominican-employee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/cibc-first-caribbean-honours-high-performing-dominican-employee\/","title":{"rendered":"CIBC First Caribbean honours high performing Dominican employee"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_262940\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-262940\" style=\"width: 711px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-262940 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Caryl-Fontaine-e1612545035468.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"765\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-262940\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caryl Fontaine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite severe restrictions on travel which prevented the usual gathering in Barbados, CIBC FirstCaribbean reached around the region recently to honour its brightest and best performers for 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer, Colette Delaney, told those gathered for the online Achievers Awards Ceremony that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused staff at all levels to work even harder to meet the needs of clients and she praised them for rising to the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDifficult times have called for innovative approaches to our work, and I am extremely proud of the way our entire team has risen to the challenge,\u201d Ms. Delaney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are the embodiment of the fact that one can excel in the most trying of circumstances,\u201d the CEO told the 10 outstanding achievers drawn from the bank\u2019s business units in Antigua, Barbados, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Dominica and Grenada and who were rewarded for outstanding performances in Retail and Business Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking and Enterprise Security &amp; Fraud Management.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that the bank\u2019s \u201cmatrix structure\u201d also positioned it to readjust to the new work from home environment \u201cas we are quite used to multi-national teams working across borders, often by conference calls and our latest toys \u2013 WebEx and Microsoft teams, so to say that FirstCaribbean didn\u2019t miss a beat when the pandemic hit would be an understatement!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Small Business Officer, Caryl Fontaine of Dominica, was the top performer for 2020. Caryl\u2019s sales achievements were record-setting not only for Dominica but for the wider OECS group as a whole. By the close of the third quarter, she achieved 119% of her full-year sales target and secured the number two spot in overall Business Banking sales regionally, a feat not often seen in the small OECS space.<\/p>\n<p>Barbadian Lian Richards, Senior Analyst, Fraud Risk Management was presented with an Award of Distinction for her outstanding abilities as a fraud investigator.<\/p>\n<p>Other awardees were Sales Specialist Michael Roach of Antigua, Senior Officer, Corporate and Investment Banking, Shevette Strachan and Relationship Manager, Nickia McPhee of the Bahamas, Manager, Business Performance and Strategy Implementation, Kevin Hinds and Jeffrey Newton, Head, Credit Underwriting and Portfolio Management of Barbados, Platinum Manager Laveda Burton and Sales Specialist Kerrin White were the awardees of the Cayman Islands and Manager, Business Banking, Eberna White of Grenada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe excellence you have displayed, that got you nominated for these awards, shows your leadership capability and we are relying on you to go back out there and help us keep up the teamwork and collegial spirit.\u201d Ms. Delaney told the award winners.<\/p>\n<p>Guest speaker Sonia Layne-Gartside, an internationally acclaimed Organizational Change Management (OCM) professional and author of the book \u201cWorkplace Anxiety &#8211; How to refuel and Reengage&#8221;, spoke on the topic: Thriving in Uncertainty: Why 2021 will be even bigger and better for you.<\/p>\n<p>She told the awardees that they were \u201cgems who have shown remarkable resilience in time of uncertainty\u201d.
