{"id":267308,"date":"2021-05-08T12:34:28","date_gmt":"2021-05-08T16:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=267308"},"modified":"2021-05-08T12:34:28","modified_gmt":"2021-05-08T16:34:28","slug":"four-plead-not-guilty-to-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/four-plead-not-guilty-to-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Four plead not guilty to murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-267309\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Not-guilty-plea-2-642x366.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Four men indicted for murder have pleaded not guilty to the charges at the High court arraignment on May 7, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Mannie Azille of Cottage was the first to enter a not guilty plea.<\/p>\n<p>Azile stands charged with the September 30, 2014, murder of 46-year-old Marilyn McLawrence in Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>McLawrence&#8217;s lifeless body was found in a track near her home in Glanvillia, Portsmouth about 7:30 p.m. on the same day with serious wounds to her head.<\/p>\n<p>Azille, who is represented by attorney-at-law Darius Jones, was further remanded in custody.<\/p>\n<p>Heywood Augustine of Portsmouth also rendered a not guilty plea for the 2018 New Year Day murder of Derrick Peters who was\u00a0 also from Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>Peters&#8217; death from a gunshot in the back of the neck marked Dominica\u2019s first homicide case in\u00a0 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Augustine is represented by attorney-at-law Dawn Yearwood Stewart and his bail will continue in the sum of $150,000 with two sureties.<\/p>\n<p>The court also reduced his reporting time from three times a week to once weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two brothers from Eggleston &#8211; Jeremiah Gustave and Rendolph Gustave &#8211; pleaded not guilty to the murder of Glen Alphonse of the same community.<\/p>\n<p>Alphonse was shot whilst on a passenger bus in Eggleston on July 5, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Gustave brothers who are represented by attorney Kondwani Williams were further remanded in custody pending a bail application hearing scheduled for next week.<\/p>\n<p>The matters were adjourned to June 25, 2021, respectively, for case management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Four men indicted for murder have pleaded not guilty to the charges at the High court arraignment on May 7, 2021.
