{"id":26767,"date":"2011-02-07T15:47:01","date_gmt":"2011-02-07T19:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/dno\/?p=26767"},"modified":"2011-02-08T06:18:54","modified_gmt":"2011-02-08T10:18:54","slug":"mfr-is-no-more-ncore-is-here-for-sure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/news\/entertainment\/mfr-is-no-more-ncore-is-here-for-sure\/","title":{"rendered":"MFR is no more- Ncore is here for sure"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_26779\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26779\" style=\"width: 608px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26779\" title=\"ncore\" src=\"http:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/dno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ncore2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ncore2.jpg 989w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ncore2-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ncore2-150x107.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ncore band members<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A  band which took Dominica by storm in its short span of existence-Music  For Real or MFR as it was widely known- has come back with a promise to  take Dominican music to a the next level but under a new name, logo and  management.<\/p>\n<p>Ncore,  as the seven member group now stands, is seeking to broaden its horizon  and gain international recognition with a slightly new twist to the  genre of bouyon music.<\/p>\n<p>Ncore  presented itself, logo and brand new single \u201cAfter Life\u201d at an official  media launch at the Flamboyant Hotel this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The  song, which was produced and sung by Edmund Telemaque, was written to  reflect a true near death experience by one of its band members.<\/p>\n<p>Leader  of the band Josiah Pierre-Louise, sought to clear rumors and  questions which have been raised about the band\u2019s dissolution after last  year\u2019s carnival.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that all but one of the member MFR band are now members of Ncore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe  are gathered here today to present to you our music sector to the  Dominican public, the region and the international arena a new name, a  structured team, a new sound to the genre of bouyon music, a solid  musical organization that\u2019s of standard, one of which we differentiate  our past from our present and spearhead our future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperations  were dissolved by the proprietor after a five year run. Due to the  refusal to come to an agreement based on recommendations made by the  musicians, those of whom are present right here today with an  exception,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Pierre-louise said that the break up has only led to the strengthening of the band.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere  is a saying that goes, [in life you gotta break grounds to make  grounds.] Following the dissolving in 2010 we the former members sat  through various meetings on ways in which we were to go to get things  back to full force and to a better standard. Because of our passion, our  dream of affecting he world positively through music and bringing a  change to entertainment this was not yet accomplished. We also used this  as an opportunity to study the art of music and the music business. We  received both negative and positive views from the listening public  through this brought birth to the new name of Ncore,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The  band leader assured that the musicians \u201cpresent here are no longer and  will never again operate under the name or any company as MFR- Music For  Real Band. We now operate under the name of Ncore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Based  in Portsmouth, Ncore already has a packed schedule, as it is down to  play its first gig in Guadeloupe on February 18 in Guadeloupe. They will  return to Dominica on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> for the opening of carnival in St Joseph, February 20, opening of Portsmouth Carnival and 25<sup>th<\/sup>Soca Monarch at Carnival City. The new name was inspired by the word &#8216;encore&#8217;, which means again.<\/p>\n<p>Chief  Cultural Officer, who chaired the media launch, welcomed the new band  and encouraged them to overcome the challenges that will come their way.<\/p>\n<p>Minister  for Culture Justina Charles also congratulated Ncore, stating that they  should join forces with other local musicians in bringing Dominica\u2019s  music to the world. She spoke against rivalry among bands, studios and  other music entities on the island and said they should strive for  excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Ncore operates through investments from a French-based K &amp;K Company-their management.<\/p>\n<p>Cee  Media, which is owned by Carlos Charles, is responsible for the band\u2019s  bookings, media and marketing relations.
