Health Minister Dr. Irvin McIntyre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dominicans have been urged to defend and protect the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Program.<\/p>\n

Health minister and parliamentary representative for the Roseau Valley constituency, Dr. Irving McIntyre, made the call while he was addressing a handing over ceremony of new homes to 10 families in Cochrane on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, the CBI program offers prudent investors the ability to access the world through a trusted and affordable route to a second citizenship.<\/p>\n

He described the CBI which has been operating in Dominica since 1993, as a highly reputable program which invites investors of good character to make an economic contribution to the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou must appreciate the fact that you are not paying for these houses and it is your labour party government that is doing it for you, but where does your labour party led government get this money? It is from the CBI Program,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is why you have to defend and protect our CBI program.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. McIntyre continued, \u201cToday the CBI Fund is providing houses for you, but tomorrow it will continue to provide houses for others as well, and there are many other areas that the CBI Funds have been utilized.\u201d<\/p>\n

He mentioned the many health centres and the Marigot Hospital in the health sector as well as schools and 5-star hotels that are being built with CBI funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we all have to take responsibility and defend our CBI Program,\u201d the minister reiterated.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also spoke at the function. He told the beneficiaries that the new homes are investments for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say to you, the beneficiaries, that these homes belong to you; this is a gift to you, an investment in you and your family by this government,\u201d he stated. “You can pass it on to your children.\u201d<\/p>\n

The prime minister added, \u201cToday, when you came in there this afternoon you may have no assets, nothing to your name, as of today, this afternoon June 8th, 2021 you will have a piece of Dominica, but \u00a0not only a piece of Dominica, but a home on that piece of Dominica to call yours\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the homes are beyond just a mere shelter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an asset\u2026when you are writing your Will you have something to put in your Will for your children,\u201d Skerrit stated.<\/p>\n
