Recording artist\u00a0AbiYah Yisrael\u00a0<\/strong>is reflecting on the past and present Africa in her latest single\u00a0“Great and Mighty”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Though there is much to be said,\u00a0AbiYah<\/strong>\u00a0states that the\u00a0song represents a few thoughts that came about as a result of the war in the Tigray Region as well as ongoing\u00a0instability all over Africa. Africa is at a point where unity can not be overstated, almost everyday\u00a0women and children are faced with violence in Nigeria, Senegal just ended a two\u00a0week battle, the Malian coup, Chad is fighting Northern rebels and is under military rule, Burkina Faso bandits are\u00a0planning to attack Ghana and the \u00a0endless list could go on and on.\u00a0 Africa’s issues are diverse but clearly the effects of colonialism and Neo-colonialism can be seen and felt. As usual the children , the vulnerable and poor are left to suffer.<\/p>\n

Under the reign of Haile Selassie there was a vision which began to manifest, a united Africa both home and abroad. His Imperial Majesty formed the Organization for African Unity which is known\u00a0today as the African Union. Through his efforts about thirty two\u00a0African states were already on a\u00a0path for unity\u00a0until he was dethroned by greater Neo-colonial powers.\u00a0AbiYah<\/strong>\u00a0calls for unity among Africans\u00a0but even more so among the true seeds of Jacob.\u00a0AbiYah<\/strong>\u00a0says, “It is in unity we are\u00a0“Great and Mighty”<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n
