A house fire in the Citronnier area which occurred some time this morning, has left one occupant of the dwelling house\u00a0 nursing minor injuries at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH).<\/p>\n

Chief Fire Officer of the Dominica\u00a0 Fire and Ambulance Services, Josiah Dupuis revealed to Dominica News Online (DNO) that about 6:30 a.m today August 19, 2021, his department responded to a call in Critronnier.<\/p>\n

The dwelling house in question was that of the late Phillip Alleyne, renowned cricket umpire and founder of the Dominica Cricket Umpires Association and Football Referees Association.<\/p>\n

Dupuis said the home is now owned by the wife of Alleyne, Kathlyn Alleyne, who resides there with two other family members.<\/p>\n

He said one of the occupants of the home received minor injuries during the time of the fire and was transported to the DCFH by the Fire and Ambulance Services.<\/p>\n

The Fire Chief further disclosed that most of the damage to the two storey structure occurred in the interior of the ground floor with minimal destruction to the top floor.<\/p>\n

Dupuis said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.<\/p>\n
