Prosper appeared before Magistrate Candia George today.<\/p>\n
According to the facts, which were presented by the police prosecutor, on Friday, February 11 at about 10:40, the complainant and his girlfriend were walking on Fields Lane where he met the defendant. The complainant asked him for a lighter that he (the complainant) had lent him a month ago.<\/p>\n
Prosper did not answer and the complainant then asked him if he wanted him to get into trouble for his own lighter. The complainant threatened to chop the defendant.<\/p>\n
Nicholas then left but the defendant followed and confronted the complainant several times, once with a bottle in hand and then with a stone.<\/p>\n
While arguing, the defendant threw a stone which struck Nicholas on his ear.<\/p>\n
Nicholas had to be treated at the Princess Margaret Hospital.<\/p>\n
When confronted by police the defendant said that he had no problems with Nicholas and that they went to school together. He also said he would have no problem with an out-of-court settlement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI doesn\u2019t look nobody trouble,\u201d he said in mitigation today. \u201cI sorry\u2026 he that come threatening me, telling me he will chap me. I am very sorry to see he and I raise up together.\u201d<\/p>\n
The complainant, who appeared at court, said he had experienced pain in his ear and was on medication for the injury. He also had visible stitches and swelling on and behind the ear.<\/p>\n
After receiving his sentence Prosper apologized and added that his grandmother had just died, that he was working and could pay a fine for the offence.<\/p>\n
\u201cFines are for first-time offenders,” the magistrate told him. “If you keep coming here it means that the fines are not working.”<\/p>\n
