Dominican Bouyon artist\u00a0Dario \u2018Reo\u2019 Sebastien\u00a0<\/strong>is proving he is no one-hit wonder with the strong fan endorsement of his single\u00a0\u201cDou Dou,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>which in the span of six months has hit the 1 million view mark on YouTube. This follows his previous million view achievement with his 2018 single \u201cSa Ka Bay\u201d which to date has 2.4 million views.<\/p>\n

Teaser photos from Reo\u2019s \u2018wedding,\u2019 (scenes from the video) sent fans in a frenzy and helped propel views of the \u201cDou Dou\u201d video beyond fifty thousand, within a week of its July 2021 release. The song itself, produced by Litleboy of St. Maarten on the\u00a0Dou Dou Bouyon Riddim 2021<\/em> is also captivating, with its catchy Bouyon beat, lyrics with Dominican phrases and the melodious Creole hook. With the number of French and Creole commentary on the video, as well as his popularity in French media, there is little doubt that Reo\u2019s Francophone fans have contributed to the popularity of both the song and video.<\/p>\n

In fact, \u201cDou Dou\u201d spent five months (and peaked at No. 1) on\u00a0TRACE TV\u2019<\/strong>s\u00a0Hit Lokal<\/em>, a programme featuring the top 20 songs in Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana. Joining Reo on this list are popular international acts such as Nigeria\u2019s Rema and Burna Boy, Shensea of Jamaica, Oswald of St. Maarten and Haiti\u2019s Kai. Additionally, Reo has been nominated for an award in\u00a0NRJ Antilles<\/strong>\u00a0award show \u201cLes Trophees\u201d and fans can vote for him\u00a0HERE<\/a>. Voting ends on February 6th<\/sup>\u00a0and results will be announced February 11th<\/sup>\u00a02022.<\/p>\n

\u201cBig up to all my fans, especially those in the French Antilles,\u201d says Reo who is currently in France. \u201cI really appreciate the support that I have been receiving from the fans and the media as well in those countries and of course my homeland Dominica.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Colihaut native says, though he is humbled by the outpouring of love and support, his mission is bigger than himself, “I’m really happy we getting to put some spotlight on our country Dominica. Thats the main purpose …tourism, recognition .. for me it’s about Bouyon music and Dominica and the relationships we can build with other countries and put each other on, you know.”<\/p>\n

Shot on the 60-acre Paradise Valley, a picturesque haven of plants, flowers, and greenery in Bourne Dominica, the video was directed by Tridel Edwin and edited by Shane St. Claire both of 365 Group Inc.\u00a0 Edwin, who also doubles as Reo\u2019s manager, says this achievement is a major deal for Dominican artists and Dominican music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the fact that Reo was so authentic in keeping his accent, using phrases that are popular here and even adding the Creole aspect says a lot,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

For Edwin, the \u201cDou Dou\u201d video follows in the footsteps of acts like\u00a0Navy<\/strong>\u00a0who have maintained aspects of their Dominican heritage, while appealing to a wider audience. \u00a0\u201cThe success of “Dou Dou” and Reo, on a whole, show that Bouyon music and Bouyon artists can achieve the level of success we see artists get in bigger genres; and that is really encouraging.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDou Dou\u201d was Reo\u2019s third release in 2021, a year that proved challenging for many in the entertainment arena, who were severely impacted by COVID 19. The other songs released were\u00a0\u201cWe Outside\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0featuring DJ Flip Tha Boss and\u00a0\u201cBend Down and Push It Back.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reo\u2019s early hits include\u00a0\u201cBoom Boom,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cPay Me\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cSa Ka Bay,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0featuring Guadeloupe based Dominican, DJ Bling.\u00a0 He\u2019s also known for other singles to include\u00a0\u201cDangerous,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cOuu La La\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>featuring French Bouyon artist Edday and\u00a0\u201cDominica I from.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

As an entertainer, Reo\u2019s status has definitely shifted from \u2018rising star\u2019 to proven Bouyon \u2018superstar,\u2019 especially in light of the recognition he is receiving for his talents.\u00a0 In addition to his accolades in the Francophone space, Reo has been nominated in four categories in the Dominica Music Awards 2022 to be held on February 29th. He is up for\u00a0Male Artist of the Year<\/em>,\u00a0Male Bouyon Artist of the Year<\/em>\u00a0and \u201cDou Dou\u201d nominated for\u00a0Bouyon Song of the Year<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Music Video of the Year<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He will be dropping a new music video on Thursday 20th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2022 on his social media platforms.<\/p>\n
