An AID Bank Team comprising members of the Management and Staff of the Bank, together with some of the staff and residents of the Operation Youth Quake alongside professionals contracted by the Bank, completed the upgrade of the Operation Youth Quake Kitchen Facility.<\/p>\n

Major renovation works included demolition of the kitchen cupboards and counter top, the replacement of all electrical and plumbing fittings and fixtures, installation of new kitchen cupboards and Corian counter top.<\/p>\n

Other works included the painting of the kitchen and dining-room, power-washing the grounds and spraying of the kitchen area for termite and pest control prior to the commencement of renovation works.<\/p>\n

This initiative by the AID Bank stemmed from Creole Day last year.\u00a0 On that day the AID Bank had the pleasure of serving Creole lunch to the full and day-time residents of the Operation Youth Quake, as well as the children of the Roseau Primary School, who benefit from the Institution\u2019s daily school-feeding programme.<\/p>\n

It was at that time that it was observed that the institution\u2019s kitchen was in a state of disrepair.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, a submission to upgrade the facility was approved by the bank\u2019s Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

The Operation Youth Quake Kitchen was also re-dedicated and the beneficiaries of the facility have expressed much joy and appreciation for their newly upgraded kitchen and dining areas, which will significantly improve the food preparation and serving standards, as well as the overall health and safety issues of the institution.<\/p>\n

The AID Bank is appreciative of all who helped in this venture including good corporate citizens such as Harris Paints Dominica Ltd and Events and Things who contributed in a special way to this activity.<\/p>\n

At the re-dedication ceremony, Dr. Emaline Harris, Executive Manager – Corporate affairs of the AID Bank acknowledged that there was so much more that could be done and appealed to the corporate community, service clubs, volunteer organizations and other entities to continue to lend a hand to those among us who are disadvantaged.<\/p>\n

For over 18 year Operation Youth Quake has provided day-care and short-term residential care to young children who are abused, deprived, neglected or in some form of crisis.<\/p>\n

In addition to attending formal school programmes the beneficiaries of this facility are taught life, home and social skills such as cooking, baking, agriculture and animal husbandry.<\/p>\n

Operation Youth Quake also provides individual and group counseling and recreation in a safe, secure and caring environment.<\/p>\n
