\"\"Some 30 persons from the southern district of Dominica are now better able to assist in natural disasters following a workshop last night.<\/p>\n

The Disaster Management Training was conducted by Disaster Risk Management Specialist Cecil Shillingford.<\/p>\n

Participants came from the communities of Bellevue Chopin, Pichelin, Bagatelle\/Fond St. Jean, Petit Savanne, Grand Bay, Tete Morne and Dubique.<\/p>\n

Shillingfod said last night\u2019s session looked at the effects and impact of a hazard on communities, preparing to conduct damage assessment after the impact of an event and the actual conducting of an assessment.<\/p>\n

Shillingford said training of such magnitudes should be held in other areas in Dominica.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis kind of training has to be ongoing. It must be continuous.
