Gaston Browne<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and a very close friend of Dominica\u2019s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has told reporters in St Johns that he does not wish to comment on the political situation there.<\/p>\n

Skerrit has become the talk among leaders of the region and the world after he called a snap election two and a half years before it is constitutionally due.<\/p>\n

Unlike his colleagues in St Vincent and the Grenadines and St Lucia, Browne said \u201cI do not wish to get involved in the political affairs of Dominica. This is not something that I do.”<\/p>\n

Skerrit has been under widespread criticism for calling a snap election in Dominica, especially without the participation of the main Opposition United Workers Party whom he claimed was caught \u201cwith their underpants down\u201d.<\/p>\n

But the real reason for the boycott according to the UWP is the absence of electoral reform and a clean voters list.<\/p>\n

The UWP accused Skerrit of abusing his power by calling an election in such haste.<\/p>\n
