{"id":296996,"date":"2023-01-10T14:41:27","date_gmt":"2023-01-10T18:41:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=296996"},"modified":"2023-01-10T14:41:27","modified_gmt":"2023-01-10T18:41:27","slug":"stardom-calypso-tent-marks-50-years-of-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/stardom-calypso-tent-marks-50-years-of-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Stardom Calypso Tent marks 50 years of success"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_193947\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193947\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-193947\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/norman-letang-642x429.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Norman Letang<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President of Stardom Calypso Tent, Norman Letang has described the event as a \u201chighly successful\u201d one which has contributed tremendously to the calypso art form on the island.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was delivering remarks at the official launching ceremony of the 50<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary of Stardom Calypso Tent on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cStardom started in 1972 and this year we celebrate the 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary to what I will call a highly successful activity which has contributed tremendously to the calypso art form in Dominica,\u201d Letang said. \u201cI feel proud to have been associated with Stardom Calypso Tent from its inception in 1972 up to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, he mentioned that Stardom has also contributed to the development of many musicians, more so their ability to read music which resulted in the saving of many hours during practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Letang pointed out that this year Stardom Tent comprises of a blend of calypsonians, old and young, \u201cexperienced and not-so-experienced but on a whole, this tent is loaded with talent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, Letang said from the calypsos he heard so far coupled with the quality of the music and the classiness of the venue plus other related factors, \u201cI see Stardom Tent 2023 being a super mashup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the calypsonians who form part of Stardom Calypso tent are Daddy Chess, Comforter, Third Eye, Might D, Chris B, Black Diamond, Shanice, Trilla G, Danyan, Royette, Mighty Omee, Luchious, Son of the Saint, Tasha P, Jay Dee, Healer, Trendsetter, Observer, Checker, Karessah and Bingo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Letang said he looks forward to Wednesday and Saturday night, and beyond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"President of Stardom Calypso Tent, Norman Letang has described the event as a \u201chighly successful\u201d one which has contributed tremendously to the calypso art form on the island.
