A 40-year-old Newtown man who resides at Kingshill is now remanded into custody at the Dominica State Prison following a charge of murder preferred against him by the police.<\/p>\n
Lenly Stephen appeared before Magistrate Michel Laudat on January 18, 2023, where the charge was read to him.<\/p>\n
Stephen stands charged with the January 14, 2023, murder of 36-year-old Ned James Ettinoffe also of Kingshill.<\/p>\n
Police Inspector Fixton Henderson earlier reported that on the beforementioned date, sometime after midnight, Ettinoffe was found lying on his back on a flight of concrete steps at Morne Bruce with an open wound to the anterior aspects or front of his right elbow.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was unresponsive and appeared to be dead,\u201d the police Inspector stated. \u201cHe was subsequently examined and pronounced dead that same morning at the scene by a medical doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n
At his court hearing, Stephen was not required to enter a plea as the matter is an indictable offense and is expected to be heard at the High Court before a judge and jury.<\/p>\n
The accused man is represented by attorney-at-law Joshua Francis. Francis did not make a formal bail application in the Magistrate\u2019s court for his client as he indicated his intention to do so at the High Court.<\/p>\n
