{"id":297458,"date":"2023-01-20T10:01:17","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T14:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/?p=297458"},"modified":"2023-01-20T15:21:22","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T19:21:22","slug":"fond-cole-man-charged-for-wounding-and-battery-at-carnival-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/homepage\/homepage-carousel\/fond-cole-man-charged-for-wounding-and-battery-at-carnival-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"Fond Cole man charged for wounding and battery at carnival opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-285801\" src=\"https:\/\/dominicanewsonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Bail-granted-642x361.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Derin Wade, a 22-year-old of Glasgow Road, Fond Cole is now on $5,000.00 bail after the police preferred four charges against him in relation to a stabbing incident which occurred at the opening of carnival last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Wade appeared before Magistrate Michael Laudat on January 19, 2023, where he pleaded not guilty to all the charges.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that on January 14, 2023, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS), in Roseau, the accused was found carrying a certain offensive weapon namely, one brown handle knife with a sliver blade and was unable to offer a satisfactory reason for the possession of the said weapon. He was charged for that.<\/p>\n<p>He was also charged for wounding Nathan Dominique and Vernel Lafleur on that same day and for battery on Dominique at the WPSS.<\/p>\n<p>Last Saturday, the carnival opening celebrations ended abruptly due to the alleged violent fight which occurred.<\/p>\n<p>At the court hearing, following Wade\u2019s not guilty pleas, Police Prosecutor, Corporal Dale Leblanc did not object to bail but requested that this be granted with a proper surety.<\/p>\n<p>Kelvin Madir was introduced by the defendant&#8217;s attorney, Wayne Norde, and after the court evaluated him, he was found to be a suitable surety for the accused.<\/p>\n<p>Wade was released on a $5,000.00 bail with one condition attached.
