Two men who allegedly smuggled 11 adults and one child from Dominica into Antigua could end up spending 25 years behind bars. The individuals were Indian nationals.<\/p>\n
According to reports from the courts, sometime in December\u00a0 of last year, the coast guard in Antigua and Barbuda reportedly impeded a boat carrying the Indian nationals<\/p>\n
Alvin Goodwin of Gray\u2019s Farm was driving the boat which reportedly belonged to Parham resident Kevorn Crump.<\/p>\n
Both men, from Antigua and Barbuda, were arrested and charged with human trafficking and conspiring to traffic humans.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, they both appeared before a Magistrate and were placed on a $200,000 bond and told to pay $50,000 to secure their temporary release.<\/p>\n
Their travel documents were also taken and they are required to sign in at a police station near them three times each week.<\/p>\n
The 11 adult immigrants were also arrested for entering the country illegally and were fined $1000 each last week.
