Tyce \u201cMighty T\u201d Faustin of St Mary\u2019s Academy has been crowned the 2023 Junior Calypso Monarch.<\/p>\n

He outdid 9 other junior calypsonians\u00a0at a competition held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Friday, to capture that title with a song entitled, \u201cI want to go overseas\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mighty T who is 13 years old is the son of Bouyon Artiste, Ambassador Wayne Benjamin.<\/p>\n

He told the media following his win that he knew he had the potential to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always so exciting hearing your name being called as a winner of a show,\u201d Mighty T said.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cMy song tonight was basically bringing forward that the education system in America is way better than here and we should probably try our best to bring it forward\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Mighty T said it doesn\u2019t stop there as he plans to participate in more junior calypso competitions in the future.<\/p>\n

Ojahro \u201cMighty Kai\u201d Philbert of the Dominica Grammar School secured second place, D\u2019 Andre \u201cD Legend\u201d Rolle representing the Pioneer Preparatory School placed third and Jairah \u201cMighty Jairah\u201d George representing the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School placed fourth.<\/p>\n

The other competitors were Amelio \u201cKing-Lio\u201d George of the St Mary\u2019s Primary, Jodee-Marie \u201cLuxuriee\u201d Leatham representing the St Martin Secondary School, Bryce \u201cMighty Bryce\u201d Alexander of the Community High School, Kai \u201cEmpress Kai\u201d Lawrence of the St Luke\u2019s Primary School, Terricia \u201cTeri-C\u201d Lavinier of the Pierre Charles Secondary School and Mersa \u201cMighty M\u201d Andre of the Pierre Charles Secondary School.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Josiah \u201cDJ Siah\u201d Fagan of St Mary\u2019s Primary School was crowned the first-ever Junior Bouyon Monarch.<\/p>\n

His winning song was entitled, \u201cBring Back the Bouyon\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am feeling excited and I feel good,\u201d he told the media shortly after being crowned. \u201cThe song is saying bring back the original bouyon, like the WCK kind of bouyon, stop the cursing, stop the fighting, stop the killing like how these other types of bouyon artistes sing.\u201d<\/p>\n

His song was composed by Diane Charles, teacher at SMP.<\/p>\n

Dane \u201cDwavete\u201d John of the Dominica Grammar School placed secnd, De Andre \u201cDre\u201d Darroux of the Pierre Charles Secondary School placed third, and in fourth place was Quan \u201cQuandary\u201d Bunche representing the Community High School.<\/p>\n

The other competitors were Bijon \u201cMighty B\u201d Charles of St Luke\u2019s Primary School and Curnel \u201cMillion Dollar Boy\u201d Charles representing the Goodwill Secondary School.<\/p>\n

The show was organized by the Leo Club of Dominica.<\/p>\n
