\u201cWe are still calling on persons to be a little more vigilant in accessing our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n

This was according to Deputy Fire Chief, Wayne Letang who spoke to State-Owned Radio DBS during an interview recently.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIn 2021 we crossed the 10,000 mark for ambulance calls for the first time in our history and then in 2022 there was a slight decrease, but we still crossed the 10,000 mark,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe actually did somewhere in the region of 10,200 calls for the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0Letang continued, \u201cSo there was a decrease, but it\u2019s the second year in running that we have gone beyond 10,000 ambulance calls.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed out that in terms of emergency and non-emergency calls one of the areas that the number of calls has increased is that of trauma.<\/p>\n

Letang said, for example, based on the number of vehicles on the road, the quantity of calls has actually increased from previous times<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I made a call at the beginning of the year for persons to be a little more careful,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n

He further explained that a lot of incidents on the road are simply because people are not taking heed, \u201cand we find a lack in the discipline or respect for each other on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say personally as Wayne Letang I have seen that is decreasing. We find that a lot of motor vehicular incidents could have been avoided,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
