Dominica\u2019s longest surviving sports club, Sagicor General Somerset of St. Joseph embarked on a compassionate gesture over the weekend. The club which incorporated a Community Development and Social Enhancement Program into its sporting mandate about a decade ago, reached out to some less fortunate brothers and sisters in the community on Saturday, April 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

Somerset provided thirty-five (35) breakfast plates to these individuals in keeping with the spirit of the season of Lent, a prelude to Easter. For those who believe in that season, we are aware that the three pillars of Lent are Prayer, Fasting, and Giving Alms, which really means, Service to humanity.<\/p>\n

This charitable activity was very successful and well-received by the target group in question. As we all know, breakfast is the first meal of the day and those who were fed were able to sit and relax in the comfort of the Somerset Club House and enjoy a healthy breakfast. In a few cases, some asked for a second serving, and recognising that these individuals may not have had an evening meal the previous night, we acceded to their request. For us in Somerset, it was most gratifying to know we could satisfy that need.<\/p>\n

The club wishes to thank all the generous members who contributed in one way or another to the success of this activity.
