Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has made it clear to the public that, \u201cnobody will be fired\u201d from the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Program.<\/p>\n
His comments came following allegations that the US is investigating an individual associated with the CBI Program in\u00a0Dominica.<\/p>\n
However, the Prime Minister said there will be some promotions taking place within the program, \u201cto allow some people to come in.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are through a process of restructuring, so we are putting in additional staff at the CBI to deal with monitoring, to deal with reporting so that we can have a Division of Labour, we are bringing in new staff, additional staff, we are exposing our staff to more training, especially anti-money laundering training to satisfy both our internal requirements and external requirements,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Skerrit continued, \u201cI have read and heard views that the United States or some\u00a0 government s have written to say to fire this person, I have not received any such letters, or whispered to me in my ears or by Whatsapp, nothing at all from any foreign government.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cThere will be some promotions taking place within the program and this will allow some people to come in\u2026but nobody has been fired from the CBI Program at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, there is no basis for any argument for it nor a reason for this.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are beefing up because we have to deal with so many of the external entities on an ongoing basis, so we are increasing the management of CBI,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He revealed that his government plans to bring in someone with tremendous banking experience and managing experience to help especially when the issue of compliance is concerned.<\/p>\n
He further revealed that Coordinator of the CBI Program Emmanuel Nanthan will be elevated.<\/p>\n
