Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has extended condolences to the families who mourn the loss of their loved ones in the school dormitory fire in Mahdia, Guyana on Sunday.<\/p>\n

At least 19 students at the government boarding school were killed and numerous others were injured as a fire swept through the dormitory overnight. The fire started\u00a0around 10:50 p.m.<\/p>\n

According to Guyanese officials, all but one of the victims were Indigenous females.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of 19 students who perished in a secondary school dormitory fire in Mahdia, Guyana late Sunday. I pray for strength for their families and healing for those hospitalized with critical injuries,\u201d the PM said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

He expressed that the Government and people of Dominica extend sincere condolences to the grieving families and stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Guyana.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
