Recognising the complex impact of sexual dynamics on relationships, Jolly’s Pharmacy, in collaboration with Jolly’s National Clinic (JNC), has taken a proactive approach by organising a pioneering health symposium dubbed “Let’s Sex It Up.” Carlton Languedoc, Chief Pharmacist and Public Relations Officer at Jolly’s Pharmacy, explained to Dominica News Online (DNO) that, considering how important sex is to life, the symposium aims to explore the multifaceted dimensions of sex beyond the physical act itself.<\/p>\n
He further revealed that the event will bring to the forefront the urgency of a healthy dialogue surrounding the role of the act within committed relationships. Carlton elaborates, “Many relationships have experienced immense pressures, fragmentations, arguments, even separation due to sexual dysfunction, sexual misunderstanding, sexual arguments, and the list goes on.”<\/p>\n
The symposium thus seeks to address these challenges and foster a better understanding of sexual health within the
\ncontext of committed relationships. The event will bring together a panel of experts from diverse fields to delve into various spectrums of sexual health. This panel will feature a gynaecologist, a urologist, a psycho-clinical psychologist, and an expert on the sociological aspects of sex, including its intersections with culture, belief systems, and norms. The aim is to examine how these variables influence our perceptions and behaviours related to sex.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we’re not just looking at the activity of sexual intercourse. But we’re looking at other aspects, how do we understand our body and our body [responses], and really to sexual stimulation,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
In tandem with discussing sexual intercourse, discussions will provide insight into topics such as intimacy, the role of intimacy in maintaining a healthy relationship, and the significance of erotism in nurturing lasting connections.
\nThe pharmacist expressed excitement about the event, and its potential to create a positive impact on individuals and couples alike.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re hoping that at the end of the symposium, we will have a sort of renewal of people’s commitment to each other, renewal of people’s passion and attraction to each other, and at the same time many of us will find more creative and diverse ways of satisfying our sexual needs with each other,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
Marked for September 28, the symposium which aligns with the Caribbean Wellness Month is open to singles and couples alike from the age of 18 onwards. Single adults interested in attending can do so for $40, while couples can engage for $60.<\/p>\n
