Laville continued, \u201cThe government is pleased with this significant milestone as it reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the government is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare and the reopening of the Marigot Hospital will significantly improve access to healthcare in that region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis achievement is a testament to our government’s responsiveness to the needs of our people and we are excited about the positive impact that will have on the wider community,\u201d Laville stated.<\/p>\n
Delivery of health care services at the new Marigot Hospital, Phase 1, commenced on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 8 a.m.<\/p>\n
Under Phase 1, the services offered include specialist clinics and urgent care services. These health services will be delivered on a daily basis with specialist clinics scheduled from 9 a.m. \u2013 3 p.m. in Obstetrics\/Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics\/Neonatology, and Neurosurgery.<\/p>\n
The urgent care services will include services related to conditions such as injury, suspicion of broken bones, chest pains, respiratory illnesses, and or distress. These clinical services will be supported with laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy services. Dental services will also be offered at the facility.<\/p>\n
During Phase 1, approximately fifteen (15) new jobs will be created to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services in the areas of medicine, radiology, administration, maintenance, and finance. In the coming months, the hospital management will introduce additional services such as dietary counselling and physiotherapy.<\/p>\n
The commencement of services under Phase 1 will create business opportunities for farmers and other suppliers and distributors of goods and services required for the hospital\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n
